Corporate Internet Censorship/Site Restrictions

 Two pigs.jpg, thumbnail, 130pixels

Why are N.American governments so worried about what can be seen/accessed on the Internet and people's websites? I can't figure it when corps. like Microsoft, and browsers already do that for them! Here(Lycos) makes websites for 13yr-olds (restrictions) and implications. Msn has odd restrictive and ambiguous restrictions in its "Chat"(beware of the high-handed, and sometimes partisan "Bot"). At least you have the option of having a so-called adult site (warning is posted before entry is granted).

Then there is how "adult" or "sexual content" is defined, and by whom? A simple nude, `suggestive expressions', semi-nude? There is enough of `Big Brother' (and Sister!) around already in our so-called "mainstream" media. When a novice `webmaster'like myself has only the options, of corporate morality open to himself, one can never fully understand what constitutes minor enfractions as can be defined by the hypersensitive and cowardly corporate mind-set.

It's Bull! Another note on the Chat Rooms at MSN: after you have been booted once or twice, you begi to wonder if it it the computer filter/appointed axemeisters,Hosts or Owner. To quote msn, "you are not allowed to do that here". This was after I made an innocuous comment (no cussing, personal insults!), a joke closely related to another person's joke (female hygiene of all topics!).This after a `landslide' of very-similar, very tired anti-male joke comments! The aforementioned other `roomie'was a femme by the way. Coincidence... maybe. All this after msn doesn't `like hate against groups in society. I was not personally offended, but the hypocrisy of such situations, or partisanship always does.

Serious Probs! What is the problem with the "red x in white field square" when it comes to loaded/saved images?! Ihave heard that it could be browser/server cannot locate image?

Beowulf...returns!

He doesn't battle "Grendel" but the fat-cats of the establishment of the government and the corporate world! He is the `poor-man's version' of the super-computer! "Beowulf" is a `cluster-computer'! This system is different in comparison to a "super-computer", in the way it differs in its processing techniques.Task organization, and how the `first node'of the cluster dictates tasks, time/ priority to fast and slower processors, in terms of computations. There is a significant advantage in price/performance ratio to be realized here!

The "master-slave' relationship, as in other primitive digital relationships serves here as well. Upgrades can be monitored simply by checking MHz speeds and replacing the slower processors, at will. Ethernet cards (2) at top "node" help, with communication: one for, users and outside networks, and the other for talking with the rest of the nodes in the cluster. This `nodal sharing' of processing speed/ alocations of assigned tasks per fast/slow processors is not equal in `time division/num. tasks. One of the first `Beowulf-Cluster' rivalled the speed in G/Flops of many "supercomputers", inc. the "Cray II ", "Deep Blue" and many others that had a processor/array/delegation/ of above avg. G-Flops, ~

This is a Shattering frontier!

In 1994, an array, rivalling some of the top "supercomputers" were a "Beowulf", it was sold for ~$50,000 in 1994(the "Stone Souper Computer"). It was a worthy machine. Today, the frontier would seem to be open for newer, cheaper (comparitably faster) machines! What can you expect with `atmospheric rockets', by `town-folk' eh?

I am tired... so bear with me!Please! I am"glad" with the panels' decision to `clear' the two 34-yr-old identical twins, in the "O.R."! They deserved to be "cleared"! It was, according to proper medical procedures in a `crisis'!

"Black" Black Holes:
Chandra Uncovers New Evidence For Event Horizons Surrounding Black Holes

Illustration: CXC/M.Weiss
JPEG (60 k) , Tiff (5.6 M), PS (6.2 MB)
Top: This illustration shows gas from the companion star is drawn by gravity onto the black hole in a swirling pattern. As the gas nears the event horizon, a strong gravitational redshift makes it appear redder and dimmer. When the gas finally crosses the event horizon, it disappears from view. Because a black hole has no surface, the central region is black.

Bottom: As above, gas from the companion star flows down onto the collapsed star--in this case a neutron star instead of a black hole. As the gas approaches the neutron star, a similar gravitational redshift makes the gas appear redder and dimmer. However, when the gas strikes the solid surface of the neutron star, it glows brightly.
