Media Insults Beyond the Pale! Did you ever notice the prevalence of self-censorship on tv? You might remember at least `a few' instances of this. One of the best examples is `Oh, but I can't say this on tv', or,`I'm not sure I can say this on tv. What is with these people?! Let the wuss-puss network, `Big Bro.' do this people! Don't embarrass yourself, and more importantly don't be a coward! These people only serve to remind the rest of us viewers what a lack of freedom and puritanical society we are forced to live in. Msn! You have incurred my wrath! They have locked me out of another site(my r-rated site), apparently thinking I'm only 17 yrs of age or younger... they should trace my easy elt. trail! With all the hackers out there they expected me to provide `verification of my age' with a credit card! This site has been operational for at least three months with no problems... more to follow... Drew is incensed! More about censorship... English dubbing over english `cuss words' not only those of us trained in lip-reading can see this; movies that have warnings of various kinds before, during, and on commercial breaks, that are STILL censored (hear me "City Tv" in Toronto!); ever expanding views on what words can be heard ("mother-fucker" is verboten but "fucker" et al are allowed), even "bitch" has fallen out of favor in some cases; one of the most stupid and insulting forms is in`video censorship' where the speakers mouth is digitized, so you can't even attempt to lip-read(aww those poor sensitive lip-readers-- if thine eye offends thee...) "Ebert and Roeper"--- Topic: "Two Thumbs Up" I am sick of this "two thumbs up"! We have "two-thumbs" up...""Two very enthusiastic thumbs-up"...and also "two big thumbs-up"... howabout we just `cut-off their thumbs'? eh? Commercials on TV! Am I the only one that has noticed how networks have sneakily increased the time alloted for commercial breaks between movies and other programming, especially the former? Granted American and Canadian codes and laws governing this are different, but it would seem (like the influx of "infomercials" allowed by the CRTC) it would seem that the time allowed has increased to up to four minutes, from two! Images of Men in television commercials
I am disturbed about the ever-progressing trend of men being made to look dumb, piggish, or at best `ineffectual' ; this is sit-com advertising. It is not funny nor informative. The women get tougher, smart, but the men remain wimps or dolts, and often, `whipped'. Is this what feminists' envision for men, sounds like revenge, more than equality!
Recent Commercial: "Hummer": automobile commercial--- this commercial for this $70,000+ ex-army vehicle features a 20-22yr old blonde female driving Aaarnold's' favorite vehicle.
How is it that people believe that the parking lots of malls, i.e. "Cedarbrae" do not require the use of "turn signals"?!
